Catherine began singing and playing music back when her first used Sears guitar was still larger than she. Her first original tune was written with her best friend for their junior high talent show. Tom’s Foolery in Mount Pleasant was the site of her stage debut, back when she was a student at Central Michigan University.
Catherine’s journey since has been filled with singing, writing and performing in venues as diverse as the back of a hay-filled pick-up truck in a small-town parade to Kalamazoo’s Fetzer Institute and Nashville’s Vanderbilt University stage. In addition to her years of performing with the bands Acoustrio, Counterpoint, The Full Circle Band, Ellis, Gorman, & Michael and Carmea, some of her most exciting moments have been opportunities to sing onstage with Joel Mabus, Mark Shatz (of Nickel Creek), Pat Flynn (formerly of Newgrass Revival), Anne Hills and Candace Corrigan.
She has recorded three CDs, “Looking to a Future” with Counterpoint, a solo project, “Time Again”, and “Raining in Yosemite” with Carmea.
Most recently Catherine has reconnected with Bud Michael (Napoleon, MI), with whom she has made music and history in multiple bands over the years. Bud has added the cello and ukelele to his instrumental repertoire, in addition to his expertise on the bass. Alma Muxlow (Kalamazoo, MI), also formerly of Carmea, completes the trio on mandolin and mandola.
Catherine is also a psychotherapist, mediator and collaborative divorce coach in private practice.
